Thanks to our brilliant team of staff & volunteers, steadfast trustees and CEOs, enthusiastic supporters and fundraisers, SYCLS has had a truly fantastic 2025.
But what does a “fantastic” year actually mean for us?
It means supporting more people as they move from difficult places to more hopeful ones. It means helping communities to grow in resilience and connection. It means being present in both the everyday moments and some of life’s most challenging seasons. It means bringing change like this….
I am much happier now – I’m a changed man!
I have a real sense of relief and optimism about the future.
These words come from a young adult who had been struggling with social challenges. Through regular listening appointments, he grew in self-esteem and developed the ability to form healthy relationships. The Listener described him as “visibly more energised, positive and confident” by the end of their sessions.
These are the quiet but life-altering shifts that happen every day through the power of listening and journeying with people through life’s challenges. And these individual stories add up to something significant.
In 2025, together we:
- Delivered 3,763 Listening appointments
- Held 2,660 significant conversations
- Supported 3,693 direct beneficiaries
- Had wider contact with 15,079 people – around 1% of the population of South Yorkshire.
Compared to the previous year, we supported 23% more beneficiaries and held 53% more significant conversations.
Thank you to everyone involved in SYCLS.
Whether you have served beneficiaries directly, supported behind the scenes, or helped guide and govern our work – this impact is because of you. Your contribution has made a real and lasting difference to thousands of lives across South Yorkshire.
