We’re thrilled to announce that SYCLS is part of Sheffield Cathedral’s Christmas Tree Festival this year!
A huge thank you to the incredible children in our services who poured their creativity into making our tree truly special. Among the dazzling decorations, you’ll find their colourful pompoms and glittery drawings, many of which include heartfelt messages from the children, like:
- “I feel heard” – Bob
- “Thanks SYCLS. I can rant on!” – Sarah
- “I like to have the time to talk” – Katie
- “I feel happy” – Susy
- (All names are pseudonyms to protect the privacy of the children we support).
Our tree is more than just festive; it’s a celebration of the care and support we offer. Here’s what else you’ll spot:
Feelings & Emotions Peg Dolls: A fun way to help children explore and express their feelings.
Knitted hearts: Made in matching pairs, one stays with the child, and the other with their Listener, offering comfort and familiarity during holidays or times of transition.
Wooden Hearts & “Sorry I missed you” Cards: Shared by our Chaplains in Hospices to bring hope and solace to patients and their families.
A relative of a Hospice patient recently commented to one of our Chaplains: “Thank you so much, you really have made me feel stronger and more positive about facing the next few days.”
The festival runs from Tuesday, 3rd December to Sunday, 12th January 2025 at Sheffield Cathedral, and it’s free to attend!
Take a moment to enjoy the magic of the season, reflect on the amazing work of Sheffield’s charities and businesses, and – of course – don’t forget to vote for SYCLS’s tree!
We can’t wait to see you there!
